Sixty seven teachers of primary and secondary schools from entire Croatia, gathered in the community of practitioners which was organised in the framework of the pilot project called “e-Schools: Establishing a System for Developing Digitally Mature Schools” conducted by the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET, visited Vukovar today.
The study visit to Vukovar or, more precisely, to its e-schools, the Dragutin Tadijanović Primary School and the Vukovar Gymnasium, was yet another chance for sharing experience and presenting good practice examples, as well as an incentive for even more active cooperation of practitioners within the community, which has over 2,800 members within the framework of the “e-Schools” project.
The study visit started at the Dragutin Tadijanović Primary School, whose students held an interesting presentation of their biology classes at CARNET in June this year, during which they used a range of digital tools, demonstrating the use of ICT technology in class. Today’s visit included, in addition to a tour of the school, several lectures by teachers, as well as the participation in a showcase class with the use of technology. The hosts at the Vukovar Gymnasium presented the possibility of using ICT in STEM subjects to the participants, and a good practice example of the correlation between mathematics and geography was also presented. A showcase lesson was held in this case as well, and the study visit finished with a round table.
After the Vežica Primary School in Rijeka, this is a second study visit within the framework of the “e-Schools” pilot project, and, in addition to in-person meetings, the community of practitioners also exchanges experiences virtually on a daily basis through the Yammer enterprise social network, which accounts for almost 900 messages exchanged monthly in order to advance classes and promote frequent use of technology in learning and teaching.
